Clinical Examination of the Shoulder Girdle

Active elevation of both scapulae is positive

A complete functional examination must be performed if, during the preliminary examination, there is pain and/or limitation on active elevation of the scapulae.

Full examination consists of active, passive and resisted movements.

Interpretation

The combination of positive and negative answers points in the direction of a lesion of either an inert or a contractile structure.
