Treatment with Intra Articular Injections

Landmarks: The scapular spine is followed in a laterale direction where it meets the acromion. The postero-lateral angle between the spine and the acromion is prominent and easy to palpate.

The coracoid process is palpated in the infraclavicular fossa at the junction between the medial and lateral third of the clavicle.

The hypothetical line connecting these two bony landmarks passes the humeral head. The position in medial rotation of the arm brings the articular surface of the humeral head and the joint capsule to point straight backwards so creating a large target for a needle moving in the direction of the coracoid process.
