Intra Articular Injections

The hypothetical line connecting the bony landmarks (acromial angle and coracoid process) passes the humeral head.

The position in medial rotation of the arm brings the articular surface of the humeral head and the joint capsule to point straight backwards so creating a large target for a needle moving in the direction of the coracoid process.

Tough resistance of the capsule is felt after about two to four cm.
