You are not sure whether there is a limitation of the elevation.

Sometimes the elevation is so painful that the examiner stops the movement before an endfeel is reached. The elevation is then not continued because of too much pain. This is particlarly the case in an acute subdeltoid bursitis.
Make sure that the technical execution of the test is perfect and compare several times with the other side.
When further in doubt: examine the passive elevation in supine position. This gives a better relaxation of the patient and ab better fixation the shouldergirdle.
