Passive strain on the Brachialis

A traumatic strain of the brachialis may result from a sudden
hyperextension of the elbow. The clinical examination shows,
apart from a capsular pattern (traumatic arthritis), also pain on resisted
flexion of the elbow; the pain is situated mainly at the upper arm.

The statement of a traumatic strain of the brachialis muscle is very important
as the injury can lead to the eventual development of an ossification in the
brachialis muscle, the so-called myositis ossificans.

Attention: Pain on resisted flexion and -supination (in combination with a capsular pattern)
will merely indicate a fracture of the head of the radius.
