Fracture of the head of the Radius

The head of the radius is almost certainly fractured if there is

• Posttraumatic haemartrosis
• A traumatic arthritis combined with painful pro- and supination movements.
• Pain and weakness on resisted flexion and -supination.

A Radiograph may be negative during the first few days and will confirm the diagnosis only after one or two weeks.

Treatment is immobilization or surgery.
