Infiltrations : Procedure
After the infiltration, relative rest should be taken for about two weeks see: follow-up
Follow up is mandatory after two weeks, even if there is impression that full cure has been achieved.
Re-testing of the extension of the wrist is carried out carefully and if the elbow still aches or the clinical examination is not 100% negative, the infiltration should be repeated.
The patient should be treaded until the resisted extension of the wrist is 100% negative.
Usually full relief can be obtained by one or two infiltrations.
Exceptionally, up to four injections may be needed (with two week intervals).
After a successful treatment one should pay enough attention to secondary prophylaxis.
Recurrences can be treated with a new series of infiltrations, but if the lesion goes on relapsing at regular times, another treatment form should be chosen.
