Resisted adduction with a flexed elbow
Execution
- Resisted adduction is first executed as in the basic functional examination ( with the elbow extended)
- Then the elbow is kept flexed and resisted adduction is performed again.
Significance
- Pain during the resisted adduction with the elbow extended, but not if it is kept flexed
points in the direction of a lesion of the long head of the biceps.
- The lesion is usually at the glenoid origin.
