The shoulder: Resisted horizontal adduction

The arm is elevated to the horizontal.
The examiner stands on the painful side.
He places one hand on the contralateral shoulder and one hand at the inner side of the elbow.
The patient is then asked to exert medial force against the examiner's hand.
This movement tests maximally the pectoralis major muscle.
