The Shoulder
Resisted lateral rotation
and - abduction in supine lying position
Execution:
- Supine lying position, the elbow flexed to a right angle.
- The examiner takes the elbow and first asks and resists abduction.
- Then the patient is asked to perform a lateral rotation while the examiner continues to hold the elbow.
- Doing so the examiner can easily detect if the patient performs a simultaneous abduction during the resisted lateral rotation.
