Infiltration of a superficial infraspinatus tendinitis

Technique

A 1 ml syringe is filled with Triamcinolone 10 mg/ml and fitted to a thin 2.5 cm long needle.
Introduction of the needle at the exact localisation.
Push the needle to the required depth. --> until the tough resistance of the tendon is felt.
Inject a few droplets with the tip of the needle at tendinous contact.
Meanwhile the needle is withdrawn and reinserted five to ten times at slightly different angles.

Remarks:

Attention in athletes.
No more than three infiltrations.

Follow up:

after-pain for about 24 h. is possible.
Relative rest for about 2 weeks; re-examination after two weeks.
A second infiltration is given if positive signs persist.
