The Shoulder

The treatment is done daily for about 15 to 20 minutes.
During the first sessions not much happens.
- It is only after a few sessions that the therapist feels a loosening of the patient's shoulder (the humeral head is felt to leave the glenoid fosa).
- By that time, also the patient will feel some subjective improvement (less pain and 'shortening' of the pain referrence).
- Improvement usually starts within the first week of treatment. Distraction is continued until the arthritis has regressed to stage I
- Then normal capsular stretching will be performed.
If no imprvement has set in after six sessions, treatment with capsular distraction can be aborted and the patient should be referred for I.A Injections
