Treatment leads to good but temporary results
Check if there is an anatomical divergence that causes recurrent impingement and recurrent tendinitis
A lateral X-ray shows the so-called 'supraspinatus outlet view' - the space between roof and head of the humerus.
Three shapes of acromion are recognized on the supraspinatus outlet view: flat (left), smoothly curved (middle) and with an anterior hook (right) The anterior hook is commonly observed in patients with recurrent impingement and tendinitis.
If there is an anatomical divergence in the supraspinatus outlet, Surgical decompression (deletion of anterior and inferior part of the roof) will be highly recommended.
