- It is extremely important for the patient to understand that a correct response is required, each time his pain is provoked or influenced.
- Pain: the patient must be able to differentiate between - unpleasant sensation provoked by the examination ( a tight feeling in the shortening muscles) - and 'the pain' - his reason for presentation.
- Pain at the extreme of a movement may be due either to a stretching or a pinching of the affected structure.
