Tennis Elbow
Help: treatment
Recurrence after initial cure with infiltrations.
What measures can be taken to lower the recurrence rate?
- Treatment with infiltrations should be continued until the clinical examination is 100% normal.
This means that the maximal isometric extension of the wrist must be retested very carefully two weeks after the previous infiltration. The test should be completely negative (full strength and completely painless).
Even the slightest pain is reason enough to repeat the infiltration.
Neglecting a slight pain during re-examination is one of the most common causes of recurrence.
- A few important preventive measures should be taken in order to support the extensor carpi radialis during load.
