Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

Surgical Treatment

The following options are possible:

1. Decompression of the nerve (operation of Osbourne) is performed when the nerve is locally compressed by the aponeurosis between the heads of the flexor carpi ulnaris.
   This is the simplest procedure for ulnar nerve entrapment, and consists of a simple division of the arcade and opening of the tunnel in a distal direction.

2. Anterior transposition of the nerve: The ulnar nerve is transposed from the cubital tunnel into a new bed anterior to the medial epicondyle in a subcutaneous position.
   An alternative consists of placing the ulnar nerve submuscularly deep to the common flexor origin in a well vascularized muscle bed.
