The Elbow
Tenniselbow / Type II - Infiltrations
Technique
- The patient sits.
- The elbow rests on the couch and is flexed at a right angle and fully
supinated.
- The therapist sits next to the patient and palpates
the epicondyle with the thumb.
The boundaries of the lesion at the lateral epicondyle are meticulously palpated
- The needle is thrust in vertically until it pierces
the tendinous insertion and hits bone.
- By withdrawing and reinserting the needle at slightly
different angles, the entire lesion, which must be envisaged as a three-dimensional
object, is infiltrated.
- The palpating thumb will stay on the defined spot during the whole procedure:
-as the droplets are infiltrated, the appearances of the tiny bulges
will confirm that the correct spot has been infiltrated.
