The Elbow

Prevalence

• This condition occurs in children under eight
• It results of a forced distal traction at the forearm which moves the radius vertically downwards and the head out of the annular ligament.

Diagnosis

• The elbow is held at about 90° of flexion and in pronation
• There is a painful limitation of extension and supination
• A radiograph of the wrist shows the distal position of the radius

Treatment

• Manual reduction
