The Elbow

Detection of a (sub)luxation of the ulnar nerve

Technique

The elbow is extended. One finger palpates the ulnar epicondyle and the other finger palpates the olecranon.

Passive flexion and extension movements are repeatedly executed.

In case a loose ulnar nerve is present, the examiner feels the ulnar nerve slip over the epicondyle during the passive flexion of the elbow.

Relocation is felt when the elbow is brought back in extension position.
