The three heads of the triceps converge to a common tendon that begins near the middle of the muscle.
The tendon has two laminae, one superficial in the lower half of the muscle, the other in its
substance.
The two layers unite above the elbow and are attached, for the most part, to the upper
surface of the olecranon.
On the lateral side a band of fibres continues down over anconeus to blend with antebrachial fascia.
Three possible lesion localisations can be differentiated :
- At the tenoperiosteal junction
- In the body of the tendon
- At the musculendinous junction
