Lesion of the Extensor Digitorum Longus

Extensor carpi radialis longus
Olecranon
Lateral Epicondyle
Anconeus
Extensor digitorum longus
Extensor carpi radialis brevis
Extensor carpi ulnaris

Occurence
Quite uncommon source of lateral elbow pain.

Clinical Pattern
Symptoms and signs of a classical tennis elbow. However, the accessory examination shows:

Resisted extension of the fingers is painful;
the resisted extension with the fingers actively flexed is painless.

Palpation
reveals tenderness behind the epicondyle.

Treatment
One or two infiltrations with 1 cc triamcinolone-acetonide 10mg/ml
