2* Passive Extension
Execution
- The examiner stands next to the patient.
- One hand takes hold of the distal part of
the patient's forearm.
- The other hand takes hold of the patient's upper arm at
the level of the olecranon
- Both hands move in opposite directions so as to extend the elbow maximally.
Normal range of movement:
The forearm comes to lay in line with the upper arm.
Endfeel: hard and bony
Structures that stop the movement:
- bony contact between the olecranon and the posterior aspect of the humerus.
- tightening of the anterior capsule of the joint
